Where to Elope in Montana that is NOT Glacier National Park

Montana is filled to the brim with SO many breathtaking places to elope…other than Glacier National Park. The best part is? No permit needed. That’s right, there’s no timed reservations, there’s no permit application or waiting for approval. Actually, your officiant doesn’t even need to be ordained - AND your dog can come…and sign as your witness.

Don’t get me wrong, Glacier Park is that girl for a reason. She is grand, and epic and exceeds any and all expectations, but if you are looking for something that offers just as much of a view, but with a little more privacy and intimate experience, you’ll want to check out some of these other locations Montana has to offer.

Where to Elope in Montana

Fairy Lake, Bozeman, MT

Fairy Lake…pretty magical, right?! You really can just pull up, set up your benches for your loved ones, and exchange your vows. The field near the trailhead to the lake is perfect for a ceremony under 30 people. It is about a 3 minute drive to the trailhead of the lake, and maybe a 5 minute walk down the trail. It is pretty tight for photos, but nonetheless turquoise mountain water makes all the magic happen. The road to Fairy Lake is technically considered a Jeep Trail, and a 4x4 is required on the treacherous road. It is about an hour from Bozeman, so be prepared! Fairy Lake is best mid July to the beginning of September. Fairy Lake is also the starting point for Sacajawea Peak, another epic mountaintop I am absolutely DYING to photograph at!

Blodgett Canyon, Hamilton MT

GOLDEN HOUR DREAMS. Blodgett Canyon is located in Hamilton, Montana about an hour outside of Missoula, MT. It is about a mile and a half hike each way, rated easy on all trails. Chances are, there wouldn’t be more than three other people enjoying the sunset alongside us. If you are wondering how you’ll hike in a wedding dress, don’t worry! I always suggest getting your hair and makeup done, meeting at the trailhead, and changing at the top. But it is your wedding day, and a cute white little hiking fit would make all of the difference, and we can get fun shots on the way up, so you can show your friends and family the adventures you really took the day you got married. Blodgett is facing west, and it has the BEST sunsets you can think of.
